Every year, thousands of mothers undergo cesarean deliveries, a surgical procedure that can be life-saving, but only if critical resources, like blood, are available. Unfortunately, in many hospitals, blood shortages put mothers and babies at serious risk. This April, in honor of C-Section Awareness Month, the SCAR Foundation joined forces with the VITAH Foundation to take action, launching a blood donation campaign with one simple mission: to ensure no mother ever faces surgery without the lifeline she needs.
Turning Awareness into Action
On April 20th, the Regional Hospital Buea became more than a medical facility, it became a beacon of hope. Under the inspiring leadership of our founder Eposi Courage, the community rallied like never before. Medically fit donors, over 18, healthy, non-sicklers, and ready to give, stepped forward, each of them contributing a vital gift that could save a life.
The energy at the blood drive was electric. Volunteers checked in, shared stories, and realized that each donation wasn’t just a pint of blood, it was a lifeline for a mother, a hope for a newborn, a tangible way to make a difference.
The Ripple Effect of One Act
The results were more than numbers. By mobilizing healthy youth and community members, the initiative directly reduced the risk of maternal and infant mortality caused by blood shortages in the operating room. Each donor’s courage meant a mother could undergo surgery safely, a baby could enter the world with a fighting chance, and families could breathe easier knowing their loved ones were protected.
This blood drive showed the incredible power of community action: ordinary people coming together to create extraordinary impact. It wasn’t just about giving blood, it was about giving life, hope, and reassurance to mothers in their most vulnerable moments.

Why You Can’t Stand By
Maternal mortality is preventable, but awareness alone isn’t enough. It takes action, commitment, and compassion. The SCAR Foundation and VITAH Foundation are proving that real change is possible when communities unite. Every drop donated, every person encouraged to join, every story shared creates a ripple effect that saves lives.
You can be part of this movement. Whether it’s donating blood, spreading awareness, or supporting organizations fighting maternal mortality, your involvement matters. Because when a community steps up, miracles happen, one drop at a time.
